14th Asian Junior Men’s Volleyball C’ship
Pakistan upset Australia by 3-1
Islamabad—Pakistan pulled off a major upset victory by
beating strong Australia by 3-1 in the ongoing 14th Asian Junior Men’s
Volleyball Championship here at Azadi sport complex Iranian city
Tehran.
In the first set of the vital match against strong Australia, the
green shirts loss the first set at the score of 20-25.
In the second set the Pakistan change serving tactics which
distributed the reception of Australian team rendering the setters to
set only high ball which they block effectively and scored point by
point they won the set by 25-16.
Levelling the match set by 1-1 Pakistani spikers fought back with
determination and mantel fitness. Their ace spikers Zaheer Khan,
Zaheer Abbas and Ali Abbas scored clusters of points in succession at
kept the rivals a pace, there was see saw battle and volleyball play
in waves as both the team locked at 24 each, 25 each up to 34 each.
Up to this stage both the teams never allow their opponents to score
two points in a row. Two powerful spikes of Pakistani spikers to help
his team to arrange counter attack and to win two consecutive point to
win the third set at 36-34.
In the fourth and final set Pakistan volleyball team allowed their
rivals to narrow the lead and quickly the reached match point and
scored last point of the match and winning the set by 25-16 and won
the match by 20-25, 25-16, 36-34 and 25-16.
Pakistan will face Japan in the last leg of this round.—APP
