Mobina’s flat truth will continue till 3 December

Staff Reporter

Islamabad—The exhibition of paintings by Mobina Zuberi titled ‘Flat Truth’ continued on the second day on Thursday at Gallery 6. One of the prominent art figures in Pakistan, Mobina Zuberi has spanned over three decades of her career. She has now reached a stage where she is creating abstract paintings.
Mobina’s work is characterized by rigorous attention to formal elements such as shape, balance, depth, and composition. The process of layering in Mobina’s work appears to analyse the concept of cyclic metamorphosis with meanings and associations open to the imaginations of the observer.
At the exhibition Mobina Zuberi shared her thoughts with participants. She said the rectangle and round contours raise the issue of many connotations, and that may draw the viewer into much mysterious imagery. But all these effects I’ve used in my work are not possible on machine made papers.
Mobina told Pakistan Observer my paintings are title less because title painting is only marked that idea and my paintings are for every person who sees his inner feeling in my paintings. She said suddenly once in the morning an idea about abstract paintings pinned my mind and then I had started my work.
Commenting on her work, the curator of the Gallery 6, Dr Arjumand Faisel told Pakistan Observer that a lot of sentiments were being expressed and statements were being made openly and plainly about Mobina’s creative work.
The exhibition will continue till 3 December.
