CPLC to promote liaison between citizen, police

Islamabad—The Citizens Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) held a meeting under the Chairmanship of Shahid Hussain (retired Secretary) attended by Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi (President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Mrs. Nuzhat Sadiq (MNA), Mansoor Ali Khan (Retired Judge), Brig (R) Muhammad Zarif Malik, Asim Ayub (AC under training), Farid ud Din (AC UT) & Naila Baqir (AC UT).
The meeting resolved to promote liaison between citizens and the police for providing relief to the common man and to assist police for expeditious and judicious discharge of its duties.
The Committee also decided to hire its office in F-8 Markaz, Islamabad to perform its job more effectively. The Citizens Police Liaison Committee was constituted by the Ministry of Interior Notification No. S.R.O 349(I)/2008, dated 31st March 2008 and was tasked to enhance police performance by overseeing its working as well as to facilitate citizens of Islamabad by resolving their police related issues in close liaison with police.
The Committee stressed for the need of creating confidence, removing misunderstanding and narrowing down the credibility gap between the police and the general public and to ensure that the traffic police is performing its duties diligently and efficiently and taking steps for smooth operations/betterment of traffic.
The Committee reiterated to supervise, initiate & handle projects or schemes like Charged Parking, Neighborhood Care, and Central Vehicle Pool etc. for the security/betterment of the citizens by improving the conditions of the area.
The Committee decided to apprise the SHO of Police Stations of the genuine grievances of the members of public/residents of the area, with a view to look into the causes and suggest remedial measures as well as welfare aspects of police personnel will be looked into and measures will be initiated to improve them.
