Liver institutes to be set up in Islamabad, Lahore: Gilani
Chinese youth delegation calls on PM

Islamabad—Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Wednesday announced the establishment of liver Institutes in Lahore and Islamabad. He said that government was committed to provide optimum health care facilities to the people of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister met Dr. Aftab Mohsin, a renowned specialist in medicine and expert in liver diseases, here at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. Dr. Aftab Mohsin presented a comprehensive feasibility of the liver institutes project to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister said that overseas liver transplantation is phenomenally expensive and hard to access, so the government will fulfill its another commitment of providing health facilities to the people at their doorstep by establishing these institutes.
The Prime Minister said that we do not have liver transplantation expertise in Pakistan and in order to attract the specialized expatriates the government has to give them proper perks and privileges. He further added that most of the specialized doctors are ready to serve their country, so it is the responsibility of the government to provide appropriate facilities to them.
The Prime Minister said that due to increased cases of hepatitis, there is need of establishment of such institutes. The Prime Minister directed the Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Salman Farooqi to look into the proposal and work out the modalities for the early commencement of these projects.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday said the exchange of delegations from all walks of life is a permanent feature of close and warm relations between China and Pakistan. He was talking to a Chinese youth delegation that called on him here at the PM Secretariat. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Luo Zhaohui was also present in the meeting.
The Prime Minister termed the Sino-Pakistan relations very important especially for the promotion of peace and stability in the region. While underlining the importance of the exchange of youth delegations between the two countries, Prime Minister Gilani said that they can exercise their influence on further strengthening the already existing warm and time tested relations.
He said that this interaction will continue to ensure mutual trust and confidence.
Acknowledging the Chinese financial and technical assistance in a number of projects completed in the past, the Prime Minister said that these are contributing a lot to the economic development of Pakistan.—APP
