Founder group sweaps ICCI elections

Islamabad—Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry held elections
for Executive Members according to the new rules of Ministry of
Commerce, here Friday. ICCI spokesperson said that M/s Mian Shaukat
Masood, Ijaz Rafi But, Khalid Malik, Sanaullah Khan, Muhammad Ilyas,
Muhammad Ali, Naeem Siddiqui, Zeeshan Khalid, Raffat Rafid and Shaban
Khalid were the Found Group candidates for CM Class while M/s. Munawar
Mughal, Abbas Hashmi, Ishtiaq Qureshi, Amin Pirzada, Chaudhry Akram
Mazhar, Tahir Ayub, Naveed Malik, Zareef Ahmed Khan, Ahsan Farid and
Ahmad Khan were the Founder Group candidates for Associate Class and
after thorough scrutiny by Election Commission, papers of all
candidates were declared correct. Thus all candidates of ICCI Founder
Group (10 for corporate class and 10 for associate class) were
declared unopposed winner.
He said that as per election schedule, election for two reserved seats
for women for Executive Committee will be held in the morning of
November 26, 2008 in which all elected Executive Members will elect
the two women and in the afternoon of November 27, 2008, all 22
Executive Members will elect the President and the Vice President of
ICCI.
ICCI Founder Group Chairman and former President ICCI Khalid Javed
congratulated the winners and said that Founder Group always tried to
take all decisions on merit. He said that it is incumbent upon the
newly elected Executive Committee members to utilize their best
efforts for promoting the interests of trade and industry and for
resolution of their problems. He said that on the basis of excellent
performance of Founder Group during the last five years, traders and
industrialists have again reposed their confidence in the Founder
Group and expressed his hope that the newly elected members will
perform up to the expectations of business community to serve their
interests.
