US, Pakistani universities to cooperate at PhD level
Peshawar—Pakistan’s University of Engineering and
Technology, Peshawar and America’s Old Dominion University, Virginia
have entered into an academic agreement for mutual cooperation in
teaching and research at Ph.D. level.
Under the split program of PhD, teaching and research would be
undertaken in both universities. The ODU will help the UET for the
development of PhD teaching courses, a news release received here.
Besides teaching on reciprocal basis, research will be undertaken
jointly by both universities. Joint publications and seminars are also
the part of the program.
“Therefore, besides teaching and research, this linkage would be a
source of cultural exchange.”
According to Dr. Muhammad Munir, President PACES, Pakistani Americans
Cultural & Educational Society, who negotiated this academic and
research program, the Society PACS is working hard to establish more
academic linkages between Pakistani and American universities in the
field of higher education and research.
“These agreements are not only useful for dissemination of knowledge
and research but also foster good relationship between the two
countries,” said Munir, a former Education Counselor at the embassy of
Pakistan here in Washington, said.
The PACES, he said, has already negotiated academic linkages of UET
with University of Maryland, George Washington University.—APP |
