Islamabad—Federal Commerce Secretary Suleman
Ghani has said government has allowed to export
edible oil at large scale in its 3-year new
trade policy. Commerce Secretary was addressing
a press conference here Tuesday. He hoped Doha
talks would succeed by the end of 2009. He told
free trade agreement was also likely to be
signed for zero rating Pakistan exports with US
and European Union till 2012. |

Swiss investment
in Pakistan to see a boost in coming months

Lahore—The Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of
Switzerland, Nicolas Plattner, has called for
more interaction between the business
communities of Pakistan and Switzerland so that
they could be able to avail the opportunities
available in each other’s country. The Swiss
diplomat was speaking at the Lahore Chamber of
Commerce and Industry, here on Tuesday. LCCI
President Mian Muzaffar Ali, Senior Vice
President Tahir Javaid Malik, Vice President
Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, former Presidents Shahzada
Alam Mannoo and Mohsin Raza Bukhari also spoke
on the occasion. |

Euro rises on
buoyant German consumer confidence
London—The European single currency rose against
the dollar on Monday on news of a jump in US
home sales and buoyant consumer confidence in
Germany, the biggest economy in the eurozone,
dealers said. In late afternoon London trade,
the euro rose to 1.4224 dollars from 1.4206
dollars in New York late on Friday. |
