Childhood cancer research projects: Nov 25 last date

Lahore—A seed funding for an amount of up to Euro 50 thousand will be provided for each of the research projects selected in Pakistan and four other countries for fighting childhood cancer around the world. Those interested have been reminded that the last date for submission of research projects from the five low income countries is November 25,2008, says an official announcement.

Government Model Town hospital upgraded

Lahore—The Punjab government has notified the up-gradation of Government Model Town Hospital to the level of tehsil Headquarters Hospital. Talking to APP here Sunday, Medical Superintendent, Government Model Town hospital, Dr. Tariq Ramzan said that with the up-gradation of the hospital the facilities of all medical specialization and general surgery would be available to general public.

Lahore—Inspector General of Prisons Punjab Mian Farooq Nazeer Sunday banned the use of all official petrol vehicles of jail department across the province with immediate effect and directed to convert them into CNG to minimise expenditures.

5.12 lakh Atta bags of 20kg sent to open market, sale points

Lahore—Director Food Punjab, Wasim Mukhtar has said that 5.12 lakh Atta bags of 20kg each have been sent to open market and sale points under the programme of supply of Atta at fixed price of the government of Food Department whereas 23,000 Atta bags were handed over to the district administration for provision of ‘Sasti Roti’ to the people.
