Zardari: Govt determined to root out terrorism

M S Tanvir

Islamabad—President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the government is pursuing an effective strategy to destroy the network of terrorists and put the country on the road to progress and prosperity.

The President said this at a meeting with the Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, and NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti at Aiwan-e-Sadr here on Monday.

The President said the Government is determined to root out terrorism so that it could concentrate on salvaging the country from economic and other challenges. He welcomed the formation of Lashkars by the tribesmen to weed out the terrorists from the tribal areas. He said it augurs well for the country and help restore tranquility in the tribal areas.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep grief and sorrow over the rocket attack on the house of Amir Haider Khan Hoti. Condemning the attack he termed it as a dastardly act. Such incidents, he said, cannot weaken the government’s resolve to root out terrorism with full force.

The NWFP Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti and ANP leader Asfandyar Wali briefed the President about the law & order situation and development projects in the province.

The President and the Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of the NWFP government for the welfare of the people.
