Islamabad—PPP
Co-Chairman PPP Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N
President Shahbaz Sharif meeting here on Tuesday
decided to set up a joint committee to examine
the Constitutional Package and make further
recommendations. Political analysts generally
believe that the step would prove yet another
futile exercise.
The two leaders met at Zardari House. The PML-N
President was accompanied by Khawaja Asif and
Ishaq Dar while the PPP Co-Chairman was assisted
by Finance Minister Syed Naveed Qamar, Law
Minister Farooq Naek and Minister for
Information and Broadcasting Sherry Rehman.
According to informed sources, the matter of
deposed judges and the threat of long march of
lawyers also came under discussion. Both parties
agreed to have common consensus over the judges
issue and resolving the political crisis, the
sources said.
Islamabad—Ministry of Interior has formally
decided to hand over the security of all the
sensitive places including Awan-e-Sadr, Army
House, and Supreme Court to army and rangers in
order to avoid any untoward incident after the
long march call given by the lawyers, sources
said.
This was reported by reliable sources in
Ministry of Interior to Online, while It is
pertinent to note that, Pakistan Bar Council,
civil societies and some other organizations
have also threatened to besiege the army house,
Awan-e-Sadr and Supreme Court.
Islamabad—Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza
Gilani, who chaired the ECC meeting here today,
directed the Provincial Governments to lift
restrictions on the inter-provincial movement of
atta in order to improve the supply of the flour
to the food deficient provinces. It was
underscored in the meeting that the Ministry of
Interior must continue the enforcement of
stringent measures to check smuggling and
hording to keep the supply of wheat steady, and
ensure the provision of atta to the people at
the affordable prices.
Lahore—Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Asif has
been arrested at Dubai airport on charges of
possessing illegal drugs, cricket officials said
Tuesday.
The 25-year-old Asif was seized while returning
home from India after featuring in a domestic
event which ended on Sunday, Pakistan Cricket
Board (PCB) officials said. “Yes, we can confirm
about Asif’s arrest. He was stopped at Dubai
airport on charges of carrying opium and was
supposed to be brought before the magistrate on
Tuesday,” the official said.
Islamabad—Flour millers have ganged up to
push Government for higher flour prices and
threatened an action in case of nonconformity by
authorities.
Islamabad Chambers of Commerce and Industry has
announced unconditional support for the millers
to press the Government to review it wheat
pricing policy.

Mills Association Habib-ur-Rehman Leghari,
former chairman of association, Sheikh Muhammad
Shabir, President ICCI Muhammad Ijaz Abbasi and
millers from Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Jhelum,
Chakwal, Taxila and Attock said that they don’t
want to hurt public or press Government but
demand to tally rate of our product to the rate
of raw material.

constitutional package, at least I have come
away with a feeling of extreme disappointment.
The package is self-contradictory, full of
absurdities, and seems to have been prepared
without any serious application of mind.
Washington—Barack Obama pushed close to victory
