Islamabad —Pakistan and India have finalized a
consular access agreement to facilitate early
release of prisoners following identification.
The agreement will be signed after the meeting
of the Foreign Ministers of the two countries
here today (Wednesday).
Islamabad—Law Minister Farooq H Naek said here
on Tuesday that the proposed Constitutional
amendment package is aimed at restoring the 1973
constitution in its letter and spirit.
Islamabad—The Indian Foreign Minister Pranab
Mukherjee had a meeting with Pakistan People’s
Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari at the
Zardari House ahere on Tuesday. They discussed
matters of bilateral interest and agreed on
carrying forward the dialogue process and
increase confidence building measures (CMBs) for
maintaining peace in the region.
Peshawar—Adviser to the Prime Minister on
Interior Mr. Rehman Malik Tuesday announced the
opening of Makin-Ladha-Tiarza road for
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of South
Waziristan Agency so that they could come back
to their homes.
Kabul—Afghanistan’s foreign minister said
Pakistan’s policy of “appeasing” the Taliban is
dangerous, reiterating concern that peace talks
between Islamabad and rebels would see more
cross-border attacks.
Srinagar—Claiming that time has come to relegate
history while solving the Kashmir issue, Mirwaiz
Umar Farooq, chairman Hurriyat Conference (M)
has said that Kashmiris would suffer if they
continue to demand that no solution is possible
until complete withdrawal of Indian troops from
the state.
Lahore—The Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah
Tuesday said Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry would be
given the protocol due to the Chief Justice of
Pakistan while in Punjab.
Baghdad—President Bush has apologized to Iraqi
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki for an American
sniper’s use of a copy of the Quran for target
practice, Maliki’s office said Tuesday.
Islamabad—President of Pakistan Muslim League
(Q) Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Tuesday urged PML-N
to make working relations with the President so
as the democracy can move forward.
