Lahore—Gulf between PPP and PML-N has further widened with the oath taking of new Punjab Governor Salman Taseer. PML-N had expressed serious reservations over the nomination of Salman Taseer as Governor of Punjab but PPP did not pay any head to PML-N reservations. Salman Taseer on Friday took oath as 27th Governor of Punjab succeeding Lt Gen (Retd) Khalid Maqbool at a ceremony held at Governor’s House.

Islamabad—Pakistan’s army lodged a formal protest Friday to “allied forces” in neighboring Afghanistan over a suspected US missile strike this week that killed 14 people in a Pakistani border village.
