Salman takes oath as new Governor today

Lahore—Punjab Governor Lt-Gen (Retd) Khalid Maqbool on Thursday resigned from his office and has sent his resignation to President Pervez Musharraf.
A spokesman of Governor’s House said that Khalid Maqbool has sent his resignation to President Pervez Musharraf. He said the new Governor, Salman Taseer will take oath on Friday at 6 pm at Governor House.
Khalid Maqsool was appointed Governor of the Punjab province way back on October 28, 2001 and he remained in the office for six and a half years, the longest ever stay by any Governor in the history of the Province.
Salman Taseer is a big name in the corporate world who also served as former provincial and federal minister.
Moreover, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Secretary Information Ahsan Iqbal has said that his party was not taken into confidence by the PPP on the appointment of Salman Taseer as new Punjab Governor.
