Nominations of Sharifs accepted

Rawalpindi—Returning Officers of the constituencies NA- 52 and PP-10 have accepted the nomination papers of former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his brother, President PML (N) Shahbaz Sharif respectively.
According to details candidate of PML (Q) from NA- 52, Raja Nasir has filed four objections on Nawaz Sharif’s nomination papers that ex- PM has not shown his real assets to Returning Officer. Secondly, he has been convicted in the plane conspiracy case by the court of law. Thirdly, he is defaulter of banks. Moreover, he has committed the contempt of court in his recent statements. As evidences, Raja presented a CD and news clippings in support of his objections.
Ashter Ausaf Advocate, counsel of Nawaz Sharif, appeared before the Returning Officer and Additional District and Session Judge, Rana Masood Akhter to defend PML (N) leader.
He told the Returning Officer that CD is not accepted as evidence in the courts. He said that the opponent of his client did not provide any proof, which could establish that Nawaz Sharif is bank defaulter. He pleaded that the leader of PML (N) Nawaz Sharif has never uttered a single word against the judiciary but actually, he always spoke about the supremacy of law.
After hearing the arguments, the RO, Rana Masood rejected the objections and accepted the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif to contest the elections from NA-52 Rawalpindi. Similarly, the nomination papers of Captain (Retired) Safdar, son-in-law of Nawaz Sharif has also accepted from the same constituency.
Returning Officer NA-55 AD&SJ, Khalid Ranjha has also accepted the nomination papers of former minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, President Supreme Court Bar Association, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Sarfaraz Nawaz, Ijaz Khan Jazi, Abduallah Butt and Tariq Kiyani from NA- 55 Rawalpindi.
The returning officers have also accepted the nomination papers filed by the Pakistan Muslim League-N Quaid, Nawaz Sharif, for contesting by-election from NA-123 and the PML-N President and former chief minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif for PP-154.
The scrutiny of nomination papers for by-election’ on 38 seats of national and provincial assemblies was continued on the second day on Thursday.
The returning officer announcing his decision on the objections of rival candidates against the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif accepted the nomination of the former prime minister.
The nomination papers of PML-N covering candidates from NA-123 Hamza Shahbaz, Zaeem Qadri, Pakistan Muslim League (Q) candidate Akhlaq Guddu, independent candidates Noor Illahi, Riaz Gujjar and Ashraf Jahangir were also accepted.
Nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-N President Mian Shahbaz Sharif to contest election from Lahore provincial constituency PP-154 were also accepted by the returning officer.
According to information, the nominations of President Supreme Court Bar Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and former federal minister Shaikh Rashid to contest elections from NA-55 Rawalpindi, were also accepted.
