Residents of I-sectors face severe water shortage
Islamabad—The dwellers of the federal capital are
confronting with severe water shortage specially in Sectors I-8 and
I-10.
However, a spokesman of Capital Development Authority said on
Thursday that there is no acute water shortage except in the Sectors
of I- series, but in June the crisis may be increased due to hot
season.
Talking to APP he said the water shortage in I- series sectors is
due to long duration of six to seven hours loadshedding in these
areas and it becomes difficult for water supplying authority of the
CDA to provide sufficient water to the inhabitants of I-series
sectors, as these sectors are provided by water through electric
tube wells.
He said the CDA has contacted Islamabad Electric Supply Company to
provide electricity during the hours of water supply.
The spokesman said CDA would initiate a campaign in June to persuade
people to save water and not to wash their cars unnecessarily and
also challans the violators.
Meanwhile, after a lapse of 23 years, the Capital Development
Authority (CDA) has started taking physical possession of Sector
E-12, opening a ray a hope for allottees to get their plot.
CDA has taken possession of 2500 Kanals of land in the sector while
the ramming land would also be taken over in next few weeks. The
affectees have been compensated in accordance with the package
announced by CDA in 2006.
According to the package, the authority would accommodate 1,935
affected people by giving them alternate plots in Sectors I-14 and
other sector. —Agencies
