Corrupt elements major focus of NAB: Jamshed

Peshawar— Director General NAB AVM Muhammad Jamshed Khan while underscoring need for public and political support to materialize its objectives has said that purging the society of corrupt elements is the major focus of NAB.
He expressed these views at a cheque distribution ceremony among the affectees of Forex Company Perennials International here at the NAB Provincial Headquarters on Thursday.
AVM Jamshed Khan lauded the performance of NAB and the commitment of its team to rid the country of fraudulent elements saying that the bureau has recovered Rs.224 billion in a record period of six years, which is a great achievement.
He said that the achievements of NAB had been recognized internationally and the anti-corruption organizations in China have shown interest in adopting NAB’s mode of investigation keeping in view its excellent track record. DG NAB said that he feel pride in this organization as it has delivered and expressed the resolve that the noose around the anti-social elements would be tightened. “NAB has received 8600 complaints and registered 1306 cases besides netting 2965 people from different segments of the society in seven years”, he added.
DG NAB said that the back of the timber mafia has been broken that was causing billions of rupees loss to the country’s exchequer adding that forest guards have been provided latest weapons to cope with any untoward situation.
He said that our emphasis is on scanning all such fake companies that were cheating innocent people out of their money. He said that we have a mission and a passion to root out corruption from our country and no compromise would be made in this regard.
Muslahuddin, representative of the 27 affectees thanked NAB (F) for their sincere efforts to recover their lost money saying that NAB was a ray of hope for the people and should be strengthened to weaken the back of corrupt elements.
He said that accountability was an important factor of life as corruption has engulfed every segment of the society and unless properly checked it could wreak havoc with the peoples’ lives.
Muslihuddin expressed the hope that the rest of the money would also be recovered from the company and given back to the affectees. Earlier, AVM Jamshed Khan distributed Rs.5291946 cheques among the 27 affectees of Forex Company.
