Issuance of computerized motor vehicle registration book

Karachi—The issuance of the computerized motor vehicle registration books will commence from May 16. An announcement to this effect was made in a statement issued here on Thursday. The Provincial Minister for Excise and taxation, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, will distribute some of the books at a ceremony in his office here on May 16.
Meanwhile, in a Departmental meeting the minister was informed by the Director of the Motor Registration Wing, Shoaib siddiqui, that the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation is providing these books to the Department since 1999. It was pointed out that it has been decided that in the book the name of the owner of the vehicle should be mentioned as well as some of the details of the vehicles should also be there.
In Karachi as many as 800 vehicles are registered on a daily basis including 450 motorcycles, 250 cars and 70 commercial vehicles. The Minister was further informed that there is a three-year contract with the PSPC to print the computerized motor vehicle registration books.—APP
