Polio will be eradicated from Sindh: Qaim
Karachi—The Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali
Shah, has said that it is utmost need to have constant vigilance on
polio disease and all precautionary measures should be adopted to
fully eradicate polio from province.
This he stated while talking to a delegation of Rotary
International, which called on him today at Chief Minister House
here Thursday.
Qaim Ali Shah stated that reported detection of new cases of polio
in Sindh is very disturbing and it is full responsibility of Health
Department to make appropriate strategy in this regard and launch a
campaign so as to get rid of this menace from province.
He expressed concern that 8 fresh cases have been reported in the
province of Sindh.
Qaim Ali Shah said that all provincial departments, ZiIa Nazims,
DCOs are being directed to do the needful and make concerted efforts
in coordination of Rotary International, NGO’s and others.
He appreciated the services of Rotary International towards the
eradication of polio from Sindh.
The chief Minister said that all resources be mobilized so as to
achieve the target and commitment of Polio Free Sindh be declared
soon.
Regarding demand from the President of Rotary International, he
directed the concerned departments/agencies to fully cooperate in
this regard and have strict vigilance and should visit door to door
to unearth/detect any more case in the province as polio is not only
the world priority but it is also our priority.
President of Rotary International Wilfrid Wilkinson thanked the
Chief Minister Sindh for his cooperation for this noble cause and
informed that the world is watching and next six months have been
fixed as last six months as far as the world is to be declared polio
free.
He stressed that strong support of Chief Minister Sindh is needed in
this connection.
He appreciated the cooperation of Chief Minister Sindh.
The meeting was attended by Aziz Memon Governor 2007-O8 Rotary
