Clashes between religious lashkars leave several dead

Peshawar—As the tension is mounting fast in the Khyber Agency adjoining the posh locality of Peshawar, the Hayat Abad township, armed clashes between the supporters of Lashkar-e-Islam and a rival armed group, on Wednesday evening reportedly left dozens of people dead and several seriously injured. The political administration is yet to confirm number of casualties. The gunship helicopters were reported hovering over the troubled area to closely monitor the situation and there are reports of huge explosion in the area.

US incentive to make Israel agree on a Palestinian state

Doha(Qatar)—The United States is playing behind-the-scene role in convincing Israel to establish a Palestinian state by the end of 2008. In this regard, it is learnt from sources that the Bush administration has offered to integrate Israel into its ballistic missile early-warning system to ensure that it would not be attacked by Iran, Hezbollah or any other Arab country in the future or in case of eruption of hostilities in the Middle East.

Gaza City—The Israeli army attacked a series of targets throughout the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, killing at least 19 Palestinians including a Reuters cameraman, medical officials said. Three Israeli soldiers died in separate fighting.
