Islamabad—President Pervez Musharraf and Prime
Minister Syed Yusaf Raza Gillani have expressed
the hope that the Olympic spirit will help
promote peace and harmony in the world and
ensure a better future for the mankind. They
were addressing a huge cheering gathering on the
occasion of the Olympic Torch Relay here on
Wednesday.
Lahore—Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani met
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Quaid at his
residence at Raiwind on Wednesday and discussed
various matters of mutual interest.
Peshawar—As the tension is mounting fast in the
Khyber Agency adjoining the posh locality of
Peshawar, the Hayat Abad township, armed clashes
between the supporters of Lashkar-e-Islam and a
rival armed group, on Wednesday evening
reportedly left dozens of people dead and
several seriously injured. The political
administration is yet to confirm number of
casualties. The gunship helicopters were
reported hovering over the troubled area to
closely monitor the situation and there are
reports of huge explosion in the area.
Doha(Qatar)—The United States is playing
behind-the-scene role in convincing Israel to
establish a Palestinian state by the end of
2008. In this regard, it is learnt from sources
that the Bush administration has offered to
integrate Israel into its ballistic missile
early-warning system to ensure that it would not
be attacked by Iran, Hezbollah or any other Arab
country in the future or in case of eruption of
hostilities in the Middle East.

due to shortage of electricity and increasing of
temperature in various parts of the country.
Lahore—Punjab Chief Minister, Sardar Dost
Muhammad Khan Khosa has announced a Rs 5
reduction in the price of wheat flour per 20 kg
bag, to facilitate the common man.
Gaza City—The Israeli army attacked a series of
targets throughout the Gaza Strip on Wednesday,
killing at least 19 Palestinians including a
Reuters cameraman, medical officials said. Three
Israeli soldiers died in separate fighting.
