Mega uplift schemes to usher in a new era: Kanwar

Hyderabad—District Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil Saturday vowed that mega development schemes of 13 flyovers and underpasses would usher in a new era for neglected Hyderabad.
The flyover of Latifabad Unit-7 is nearing completion and would be opened by the end of current month while the construction of four new flyovers with one underpass would be started within few weeks time.
The District Nazim said this at a briefing from the consultants for Hyderabad Development Package regarding Geological Information System and construction of flyover bridges and underpasses here at his secretariat.

PEPCO chief calls for energy saving

Hyderabad—Advisor, Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) Saleem Arif called the commercial, industrial and domestic consumers to use electricity cautiously in order to save it for further progress of the country.
He said the misuse of electricity leads to shortage of power and if electricity is used in factories, commercial areas and homes cautiously, we can conserve it for further progress of the country.
He was speaking at a meeting with Chief Executive Officer HESCO Chaudhry Guftar Ahmed Anjum and other officials concerned to review the meeting of targets, given by PEPCO here Friday. Director General Commercial WAPDA Ikramul Haq also attended the meeting. He asked the officers concerned to contact with elected representatives to evolve a strategy for creating awareness among consumers to use electricity when they needed.

Sindh Varsity announces M.Ed result
1100 candidates take part in pre-entry test


Hyderabad—The authorities of University of Sindh Saturday conducted pre-entry test for admissions in various degree courses under evening session 2008.
According to university spokesman, the test was conducted by Sindh University Testing Center for Admissions and Employment at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Sciences (IMCS) Jamshoro, where total 1100 candidates including 97 girls appeared.
The Deans of the Faculties Dr. Anwar Ali Shah, Dr. Iqbal Ahmed Panhwar, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Bughio, Dr. Abdullah Dayo members of Syndicate Professor Agha Riaz Hassan, Dr. Mahmoodul Hassan Mughal and senior Professors of the University monitored the arrangements of the test.
Soon after the test, the university authorities announced result of test which was assessed through Optical Marks Reader (OMR). The results were displayed at the official website www.usindh.edu.pk. The same lists have also been displayed at notice boards of Sindh University Model School (Old Campus) Hyderabad and Administration Building Jamshoro. The University has also announced names of top ten candidates secured high score out of 400.

Lifting of emergency rule lauded

Sukkur—Political parties, lawyers and activists welcomed the move to lift emergency rule and believe that it will be a chance for them to boldly operate their election campaigns with the January polls just a few weeks away.
“Parties were already holding their rallies, like Leaders of the PPP-PML ( Functional) MQM, JUI-F, PML-Q, Sindh United Party, PPP-Shaeed Bhutto, Sindh National Front (SNF) and others addressing public gatherings all over the provence as well as country.
This was stated by Rehmat Khan Wardag, the Chief of the Tehreek-e- Istaqlal (TI) while talking to APP on Saturday.

Computerization helps eradication of corruption

Karachi—The salary computerization of the government servants which is being implemented in phases is bound to eradicate corruption and control financial pilferages, through out the country. This was stated by Zulfiqar Ali Kadri, Accountant General Sindh while inaugurating the salary computerization of the government employees at District Accounts Office Ghotki today.
The system has been introduced under the project to improve financial reporting and auditing throughout the country.
