Lifting of Emergency, PCO is a fraud: Baloch
All of the JI candidates withdrawn their nomination papers

Lahore—Jamaat Islami, declaring the lifting of Emergency rule and PCO from the country as a drama and a fraud with the nation, has announced that the party’s stance for boycotting the election-2008 is confirm and it will not change in any case.
This was stated by JI Punjab Amir Liaquat Baloch while addressing a press conference held here at the party secretariat on Saturday. Party leaders including Farid Paracha and Ameer-ul-Azeem were also present on the occasion.
Liaquat Baloch also confirmed that following the decision of party’s central council to boycott the elections; all of the JI candidates had withdrawn their nomination papers across the country today.

LGs not to be suspended: Maqbool

Wah Cantt—Governor Punjab Lt. Gen (R) Khalid Maqbool said the local governments will not be suspended and will continue working during the elections.
He was talking to newsmen after his address at the annual parents day function of Cadet College Hassanabdal on Saturday.
He said the facilities at the cadet college will be expanded and buildings will be renovated under a multi million rupees project.
The renovation work will be done in the current financial year while the expansion project worth Rs. 300 million will be carried out in the next financial year, he informed.
The Punjab government has provided necessary funds for the uplift of the college. The federal government will also approve grants.

Rashid for quality biometrical research in national interest

Faisalabad—Dr. Muhammad Rashid Director General Ayyub Agriculture Research Institute, Faisalabad has said that the level of competence in biometrical principles and techniques can be improved through the improvement of quality research at the national scenario. He was delivering his presidential address in national seminar on “Strengthening of Design and Analysis Capabilities in the National Agricultural Research System(NARS)” jointly organized by Dept. of Math. & Stat. UAF, ALP Directorate PARC Islamabad and Pakistan Statistical Association Faisalabad Chapter at Old Senate Hall on Saturday.

3 lawyers announce to retire from election

Faisalabad—Three PML-N ticket holders belonging to lawyers’ community have announced to retire from the election.
Addressing a press conference here, Tanveer-ur-Rehman Randhawa president District Bar Association Faisalabad said that PML-N had given him ticket from PP-85 but he decided to retire from general election.

Ishaq Bharara elected chairman of PTEA

Faisalabad—Mr Tahir Ishaq Bharara of Bharara Textiles was elected Chairman of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) for the year 2008 here today. He would be assisted by Senior Vice Chairman Mr.Muhammad Naeem of Enn Eff Exports and Vice Chairman Sheikh Masood Ahmed of Tex-Arts during his tenure. The election of Office Bearers was unanimous.
Newly elected Chairman thanked the textile exporters for reposing confidence and assured that he would take full possible means to drag out textile from crisis to achieve the export target.
