Asseri honours Shaukat Aziz and Gen Ehsan ul Haq
Dr Jassim Taqui, Deputy Editor (IR)

Islamabad—The Saudi Ambassador and Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps has been very active recently. As a Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps, Asseri has been arranging meetings with the leaders of major political parties to listen to their views and to urge them to forge unity of ranks. Asseri rightly believes in the concept of “unity in diversity” and considers it the most rewarding aspect in any multi-ethnic and pluralistic society.  Having known Asseri since he came to Pakistan in February, 2001, I can say that he is a man of principles. He is always loyal to his friends whether in power or outside it. Hence, his grand dinner party to honour the former prime minister Mr. Shaukat Aziz and former JCSC Gen. Ehsan ul Haq is a testimony to this wonderful principle of love and loyalty to his friends.  Asseri has this time invited selected friends in a grand manner. The most prominent figure who graced the occasion was the Chairman JCSC Gen. Tariq Majid along with other high ranking military officials who all were in civilian dress. Among the politicians, you could see Ch. Shujaat Hussain, Mr. Mushahid Hussain, and Mr. Nisar Memon.
