Rare seal of Indus Valley era traced in CholistanOur Correspondent Lahore—Archaeologists have discovered a rare Indus Valley civilization-era seal in steatite dating back to 2,500-2,000 BC from the Cholistan area of Punjab. The seal features the carved figure of an ibex with two pictographs. It was found at Wattoowala, located near Derawar Fort and along the ancient bed of the Hakra river, by a six-member team of archaeologists led by Punjab University archaeology department chairman Farzand Masih.

Speaking on a point of order, Shahid Bugti said that Mir Bakhtiar Domki’s wife and daughter were deliberately gunned down when they were retuning home after attending wedding ceremony of his (Bugti’s) son in Karachi.

Cold wave persists in countryIslamabad—Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast cold weather conditions in the country for next few days. Weather department forecast says the temperature in Karachi may go down to five degree celsius. Cold weather spell continues in Quetta and upper Balochistan. The mercury in Quetta has dropped to minus 10 and in Ziarat to minus 16.In Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Mastung, Kan Mehtarzai and Qalat the temperature goes down to below the freezing point after snowfall on mountains.Pak Navy provides safe route to fishermen in border areaStaff Reporter Karachi—A 1.5 km long and 25 meter wide canal dug by Pakistan Navy through its indigenous resources to join Sughando and Othano rivers in the border area has formally been inaugurated today. The canal would obviate the problems faced by local fishermen in the area and facilitate them to freely operate avoiding any violation of geographical boundaries.
